Energy Initiative featured in On-Campus Hospitality Magazine

Ithaca Dining Services was featured in On-Campus Hospitality for energy reducing equipment. To read the full article, check out the online PDF!

Ithaca College and Sodexo partnered in a "Learn to Share" initiative to meet energy reduction goals. Ithaca College's Office of the Provost, Dining Services, REMP (Resource Environmental Management Program), and student interns assisted in each step of this initiative in conjunction with Sodexo Education Facilities Services, and their external business partners.

As interns we helped to:
  • Identify and tag all dining services’ related locations- talk to managers about all locations and correct titles for locations
  • Tag all energy consuming equipment- come prepared with camera, asset and location tags, flashlight and paper/electronic device to capture information.
  • Record Energy consumption information- copy everything carefully; make notes on equipment, especially if more information is required
  • Review Information- input asset tag information into spreadsheets.  Make sure equipment is listed under correct location and can be looked up by asset tag, location or type of equipment.
Pictured above: Last spring, Dining Services hosted a lunch for students and faculty to be briefed on the progress of Ithaca College Dining Service's Energy Audit.  The lunch was held in the Tower Club. The lunch included many leaders in the audit process and the President of Sodexo facilities, Al Allen, who discussed sustainability topics with many different members of the college community.
