New Blog!


Sustainability at Ithaca College Dining Services has taken flight and we have finally found a great way to tell everyone about our initiatives, both the big, and the small, as they are happening. Welcome to our blog!

We are the student sustainability interns, Sofia Johnson and Stephanie Piech.



Sofia Johnson is a sophomore Environmental Studies major with a concentration in Outdoor and Environmental Education. She helps to plan events, write the EcoDining newsletter, recommend changes in business practices, and initiates incentives for students to make personal sustainability commitments.

This semester, Sofia will be focusing on altering Ithaca Dining Services purchases through labels that guarantee seafood sustainability. As of now, her project is centered around implementing sustainable seafood on campus. She hopes to pursue other types of food after this completion.


Stephanie Piech is a junior Environmental Studies major with a concentration in creating Sustainable Com-munities. She works with Sofia to plan sustainability events and write publications to help inform and educate the IC community about sustainability initiatives. She also worked on the recent energy initiative and audit that Dining Services conducted. This semester she will work on a new sustainability measurement and reporting tool created by Sodexo. This will help Dining Services fully understand their successes as well of areas of need in sustainability. She hopes to begin new initiatives based on the report to further improve efforts made toward sustainability.
