Finger Lakes Fresh- high quality, local vegetables year round

Photographed from Left to Right: Sofia Johnson (Sustainability Intern), Allison Parker (Nutrition Intern), Julie Whitten (Marketing Director at Ithaca Dining Services) , Heather McKinney (Fresh Food Market Chef, Sodexo) , Stephanie Piech (Sustainability Intern)
Recently, the interns took a trip to the Finger Lakes Fresh hydroponics greenhouse where they received more information about what Finger Lakes Fresh is all about. They employ 18 workers with disabilities and is run by Challenge Industries. Prior to Challenge Industries management, the Hydroponics Greenhouse was originally developed by Cornell University as a research project on the use of Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) to create year round agriculture in New York State. Growing hydroponically provides high quality, local vegetables year round.  We are excited to inform Ithaca Dining customers about Finger Lakes Fresh produce. Dining Services strives to provide environmentally friendly and healthy options for the Ithaca College community.

Finger Lakes Fresh produce is located in Towers Dining Hall at the Fresh Food Market salad bar every day!
